Tabtim Colossal

CP Tabtim is a premium cichlid fish expertly developed by Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) Thailand. It is a naturally improved Oreochromis niloticus. Owing to its bright red to orange color, Tabtim is a Thai word which literally translates to “red jewel” or, occasionally, “ruby”. Having high quality firm meat that has no muddy odor and foul after-taste, it is a highly prized fish among Thai served on many occasions.

It was introduced in the Philippines by CPF’s local unit, Charoen Pokphand Foods Philippines Corporation with a goal to address the Filipinos’ need for premium and affordable protein source, and, by extension, further improve the local aquaculture industry.

CP Tabtim is duly patented and trademarked in Thailand and at the Philippines Intellectual Property Office. This is delivered farm-fresh chilled, live, or frozen and positioned as a replacement for highly seasonal and expensive grouper (lapu-lapu), snapper (maya-maya), and seabass (apahap). With meaty body at a size of 0.5kg to 1kg per piece, this is a versatile fish ideal for grill, steam, fillet, fry, and stew recipes.
